What a recess is
A set down formed in the slab where a shower will sit, so the finished floor can fall to the waste without stepping up into the room.
What we recorded
A shower recess not formed at all before the pour, and separately recesses needing trimming and extension.
Why it cannot wait
Because the alternative is cutting a set down into a finished structural slab, which means saw cutting, dust, reinforcement you must not hit, and an engineer's view on what you have just done.
Why it happens
The formwork carpenter works from a plan, and a recess is a small detail on a big drawing. It is exactly the sort of thing an independent check exists for.
